Dashboard

When you log into your Switchobard account, you’ll land on the Dashboard. This page provides access to the main menu, Workflow, Destinations, PartnerShare Destinations, Subscription Management, Login Details, and updates.

Access the Workflow Page

Click Stream Now to open the Workflow page. A Default workflow is created, which you can customize by assigning a new name and changing the overall color.

Workflow

The workflow page is where you’ll spend most of your time. To go live, you’ll need to create your first Stream Group, Connect Social channels to your Switchboard Account, add the social channels to the Stream Group, and connect the workflow to your Live streaming software (OBS, Zoom, StreamYard, Ecamm Live, Blackmagic, etc.).

  1. Customize the Workflow

  2. Add your First Stream Group

  3. Create your first Stream Title and Description

  4. Connect Social Channels for the first time

  5. Connect the Workflow with your Live Streaming Software

Click here for a detailed breakdown of the Switchboard Workflow.

Customize the Workflow

We encourage you to customize the workflow by renaming it and changing the color theme. This is especially helpful if your switchboard account has multiple workflows and you’re working with teams or departments that have access to specific workflows.

  1. Rename the workflow

  2. Recolor the workflow

Create the First Stream Group

Create the Stream Group on your workflow. The Stream group is where you store your social channels for live streaming. The stream group is where you’ll modify stream titles, stream descriptions, add destinations, manage the destinations’ metadata, and activate the destinations when you’re ready to go live. You can create multiple Stream Groups on a workflow to help you manage your live streams and destinations.

  1. Click Create Stream Group.

  2. Give the Group a name.

  3. Update the Stream Title

  4. Adjust the Date Feature

  5. Add A Description for the video.

  6. Click Save & Next.

Connect Social Channels

Connecting Social Channels to your Switchboard account is super easy with a few clicks. Once you’ve connected Social Channels to your Switchboard account, you can easily add them to multiple stream groups across many workflows in your Switchboard account with the simple click of a button.

Connect Social channels (Destinations) for the first time.

While the Create Group window is still open, click Connect More.

Select the platform from the list and follow the prompts for logging into the social channel until you’ve reached the success screen.

You can follow these steps for social channels, like Facebook, YouTube, X, Twitch, Rumble, and LinkedIn. As long as you have the proper credentials for the social channel, you can connect it to your Switchboard account.

Add Custom RTMP Destinations

You can add RTMP Destinations to your Switchboard account by finding the RTMP/Stream URL and Stream Key. There’s no limit to the number of RTMP destinations you want to add to your Switchboard account. As long as you have the correct RTMP Stream URL and Stream Key combination, you can add the Custom RTMP Destination.

Connect the Workflow with your Live Stream Software

Now that you’ve added the social channels and created a Stream Group in your workflow, it’s time to connect it with your Live Streaming Encoder (e.g., OBS, Zoom, Ecamm Live, Blackmagic, etc.). Switchoard is compatible with many encoders on the market; you’ll be able to connect to any encoder that supports RTMP.

You’ll need to copy the Stream URL and Stream Key and paste the information into your encoder's appropriate stream settings.

Configure your Live Streaming Software Stream Settings

Keep in mind you’ll need to ensure that your Live Streaming Software has a stream setting that matches the recommended settings for the Switchboard account.

  • Rate: CBR (Constant Bitrate)

  • Keyframe rate: 2 seconds

  • FPS: 30 or 60

Test the Connection

You can test the connection by sending the video from your encoder into your Switchboard account. Don't worry; you won't go live to the destinations. You are just testing the connection between the two platforms.

You'll see changes on the workflow page when you successfully receive video from your live-streaming software.

  1. Video will be displayed on the Confidence Monitor.

  2. The status wording will change from “not receiving” to “receiving.”

  3. Messaging in the stream status heading at the top will display: "Video Present."

  4. You'll see the Go Live button change from Gray to Green. This means you are ready for the fun part... Multistreaming!

Multistreaming

Now that you’ve set up your workflow and connected a live streaming software, you are ready for multistreaming. With your Switchboard, you have access to an unlimited number of destinations that you can go live on. Remember, this includes Custom RTMP destinations.

When you are ready to Go Live, select the destinations and press Go Live at the top of the Workflow.

Select all the destinations in the group at once and go live, or you can cherry-pick and click the Go Live button next to each destination one by one.

After a few seconds, you'll be Multistreaming to your selected destinations.
